Due to rapid industrialization, urbanization, and globalization, the lifestyle of a modern man has become unhealthy. Modern man has become sedentary, takes unhealthy diet, consumes tobacco, and has psychosocial stress, as a result of which lifestyle-related or non-transmittable diseases have turned into the main source of mortality and morbidity throughout the world, including developing countries. About 1.7 million Indian hearts stop beating every year, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Smokers can cut their risk of having a heart incident to the level of non-smokers within 15 years of quitting. About 12 percent of those experiencing heart attacks in India are below 40, and it has been observed that there is 15-20 percent increase in strokes in the 25 to 40 age group.

ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) suggested that prevention of heart disease is going to be useful for Society hence Preventive cardiology course for all Medical Graduates & Post graduates will be beneficial for medical fraternity & society. With such a course, a doctors will be able to devote himself/herself to acquire Preventive and Curative skills in Clinical cardiology. He/she will not only be the expert in the diagnostic tools but will also confidently manage these diseases with a scientific & Evidence based approach. All the developed countries have gone through this transition just by spreading awareness about diabetes, cholesterol, smoking, and exercise to reduce the ischemic heart diseases.

Preventing heart disease is possible, by recognizing the symptoms and risk factors early. Madhavbaug Institute of Preventive Cardiology (A chair of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik) provides the appropriate comprehensive environment required for developing a specialized scientific field / disciplines of Medicine. The courses are designed for different lengths and duration and are certified by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS). The course aims at reducing the Cardiovascular burden of the Society i.e less number of heart attacks, CVD complication due to diabetes and other cardiac problems. The specialists and super-specialists just treat the end stage of the disease, to treat all of them medically is difficult. In order to implement these programs the strong field force required is provided by Madhavbaug Institute of Preventive Cardiology.

If one is a basic doctor this course will prove as an add-on in the armory and will give expertise in the field. With the certified courses by MUHS one can be very useful to the families and even to the people who have undergone angioplasty and cardiac surgeries.
